The origin of stamping mould and metal stamping!

Metal stamping (also known as stamping) is the process of stamping sheet metal in the form of a blank or roll, in which the surface of the stamping mould is usually heat treated to increase its hardness. Stamping includes all kinds of sheet metal stamping, such as stamping, punching, embossing, bending, flanging and embossing using presses or hydraulic presses. This can be a single engineering operation in which the punch presses each item on the plate to produce the desired shape, or it can be automatically stamped with a continuous metal mould. The stamping process is usually carried out on sheet metal, but can also be used on other materials, such as plastic sheets such as polystyrene. Progressive moulds are usually made of steel, and the steel is fed a roller into a straightener to flatten the roll, which is then sent to a feeder, where the metal stamping mould feeds the material to the press for stamping. According to the complexity of the parts, the stamping process and the number of stamping mould stations can be determined.

Metal stamping is usually the cold stamping of a sheet metal. In the 1980s, the metal stamping parts were mass-produced for bicycles. Metal stamping takes the place of mould forging and machining, greatly reducing costs. It's not as strong as forgings, but it's good quality.

Parts for this kind of stamping bicycle were imported into the United States from Germany in 1890. American companies began to own custom presses from American machine tool manufacturers. At that time Western Europe was able to press and process most of the stamping parts of bicycle hardware.

Before Ford Motor Company, several automobile manufacturers used metal stamping. Henry Ford refused the engineer's advice to use stamping parts, but later Ford could not meet the requirements of mould forgings and was forced to use stamping parts.

Presses of all types have been the mainstay of metal fabrication throughout the history of metal stamping, forging and deep drawing. The press and its associated automation equipment (automatic feed and straightener) increase productivity, reduce labor costs and provide a higher level of safety for factory workers.

Metal stamping process

Bending - deformation or bending of material along a straight line.

Flanging - material bends along a curve.

Embossing - The material is pulled into a shallow depression by a stamping mould. It is mainly used for adding decorative patterns.

Cutting - a piece of material cut from a part, usually for further processing.

Embossing - The pattern is compressed or extruded into the material. Traditionally used to make coins.

Stretch - The surface area of the billet is stretched into another shape by a controlled flow of material. You can also see this picture.

Tenssion - The surface area of the blank increases due to tension, and the edges of the blank do not move inward. Usually used to make smooth body parts.

Cold Extrusion - The material is extruded by the extrusion mould and reduced along the vertical wall thickness. Used in beverage cans and ammunition boxes.

Shrinkage/necking - used to gradually reduce the diameter of the opening of a container or pipe.

The material that is crimped is pipe. Door hinges are a common example.

Hems - fold the edges to add thickness. Doors are usually pleated at the edges.

Friction occurs during metal stamping and lubricants are needed to protect the workpiece and mould surface from scratches or wear. Lubricants also protect sheet metal and finished stamping parts from the same surface wear and promote the flow of elastomeric materials to prevent cracks, tears or wrinkles. A variety of lubricants are available for this task. They include plant and mineral oil substrates, animal fat or lard, graphite substrates, soap and acrylic dry film substrates. The new technology in the industry is polymer-based synthetic lubricants, also known as oil-free or oil-free lubricants. The term "water-based" lubricants refers to a larger category that includes more traditional oil and fat-based compounds. Dongguan Changdong Mould Co., Ltd. is specialized in R&D and manufacturing of stamping molds, specialized in R&D and production of domestic electronic products hardware molds and large automobile molds within 4 meters. Metal stamping (also known as stamping) is the process of stamping sheet metal in the form of blank or rolling, in which the surface of the stamping mould usually needs heat treatment to increase hardness.
